Our 5 Favorite OSU Watering Holes

Ohio State students are no strangers to nightlife, and within walking distance of OSU off-campus housing are unique bars and restaurants to visit after a long day of classes or for a night out on the town. Read on to find out our five favorite bars near Ohio State University!

5) Oldfield’s North Fourth Tavern

Boasting pours from over 125 Ohio Breweries since 2013, Oldfield’s North Fourth Tavern is a perfect stop for a beer lover. The relaxed atmosphere and ever changing selection of taps make Oldfield’s a student favorite. Despite the rotation, you’ll always find local classics Columbus Brewing Company Bodhi, Barley’s Brewhouse Blood Thirst Wheat and more exotic selections like Listermann’s Friar Bacon Smoked Bock.

4) Old North Arcade

Is there anything better than a barcade? No, there isn’t. Old North Arcade is a little off-campus but it’s unique combination of liquor, beer, and gaming makes it a must visit destination. Offering more than 60 arcade, table top, and classic bar games Old North Arcade is sure to have something that offers a blast of nostalgia or intense competition. Choose from classics cabinets like Mortal Kombat 3, Gauntlet, and Double Dragon, or take on your friends at bar favorites skeeball and air hockey. When the competition is too hot, step outside for some cornhole, lifesize Jenga or sidewalk twister on their patio featuring a giant projection screen.  

3) 4th Street Bar and Grill

Although it’s off of High Street, the 4th St Bar and Grill never fails to draw a crowd. A great place to watch any sporting event, 4th St. Bar and Grill has some of the best happy hour specials near campus. Half off drinks (3pm – 9pm M-F), half off appetizers (3pm – 7pm M-F), Half off all drafts (Sundays 4-7) and $2.50 PBR & Bud tallboys “All day Erryday.” On top of these awesome happy hours 4th street offers daily specials every day of the week.

2) The Library

Located just north of Lane Avenue and OSU, The Library Bar has long been a staple of OSU nightlife and High Street icon for years. Known for their low-priced pitchers and “delicious” drinks the Library is a great stop for those on a budget or looking for a low-key experience. Play pool, darts, pinball, foosball and shuffle blowing while enjoying your pitcher of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The Library is a classic tavern through and through.

1) The Original Varsity Club

If Ohio State University is about one thing besides education, it’s sports. And the Original Varsity Club is your place for all things OSU sports. Founded in 1959, the Varsity Club is located less than 500 yards from the football stadium, perfect for all things pre and post-game. With over 15 TVs, you won’t miss a minute of the action, even if you don’t have tickets to the game.
