Growing up, your parents always reminded you to “enjoy being young while you can, because time flies.” College is no different; time doesn’t stop just because you’re away at school. With your busy schedule, it can seem hard to make time for all the things you should experience while you’re young.
Our advice? Hit the breaks! Make the most of your years at Bloomsburg University. Live up your college years before you’re an official adult. And while you’re at it, make sure you check out these five things to do before you leave Bloomsburg for bigger and better things.
1. Take a Day To Enjoy Bloom Beach
Not far from Bloomsburg University is a stretch of water that is commonly known to the locals as Bloom Beach. If you head down Irondale Road, there’s a path that will lead you right down to the water. Bloom Beach has become a popular—if not the most popular—destination in Bloomsburg when the weather gets warm.
It’s the best place to catch some rays or lay out in the sand under the stars. Round up your friends, grab a swimsuit and a case of beer and enjoy a peaceful day away from classes.
2. Attend The Bloomsburg Fair
Each September, the Bloomsburg Fair racks in an attendance of nearly 400,000 people, and this year will be no different! This year’s event will be the held from September 22-30, which is a great welcome back for all students and a fun way to kick off the new year.
Attendees can go to concerts, catch shows in the grandstands of the raceway, eat tons of yummy food, enjoy rides and games, and check out exhibits. If you’re brave enough, you can even take a helicopter ride! The fair is great and all, but we know students are more excited for the week off of school following the fair.
3. Notch Another Block Party Under Your Belt
This one pretty much goes without saying. If you go to Bloomsburg, you probably already know about the Block Party. For those of you who are new—or have been hiding under a rock—it’s a huge block party that Bloomsburg students hold annually. It brings out hundreds upon hundreds of students who are ready to get wild, and it often gets utterly out of control.
The party stretches from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, and the town gets overrun by the students who are ready to party, and there’s no stopping them. We don’t condone car tipping, but make sure you go this year and have a good time.
4. Decide If You’re Team Naps Or Team Tri Pi
Naps or Tri Pi; whose side are you on? There’s no denying that these are both awesome pizza spots, but if you live in Bloomsburg, we know you sway towards one or the other. The debate over which slice of pie is better has definitely caused some heated discussions and has probably even ended some friendships. But the reward outweighs the risk; you can’t graduate from Bloomsburg without tasting a slice of these pizzas.
5. Go A Day Without Walking a Single Hill
Since the entire campus is on a hill, the only way to avoid this is to avoid class altogether. If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it, does it even make a sound? We think not. You deserve a personal day every once in a while. Plus, Netflix is way more chill.
