Heinz Lofts (4.6)
Tied for the top-rated spot in our landlord list, we have the Heinz lofts, who also promote the idea of resort-style living with a wide range of amenities. Heinz is located in a prime location right on the river, just minutes from the strip, which is home to world-class shopping and restaurants. These apartments include high ceilings, ceramic tile in the kitchens and bathrooms, tall windows, washers and dryers in, and really cool features left over from the original construction. Cool features like exposed brick walls, painted wood ceilings, beams, and columns. As if a really cool living space wasn’t enough, Heinz also offers heated garage parking, a fitness center, sauna, whirlpool, and exercise pool, as well as round-the-clock maintenance. Wow!
AMO Management (4.6)
AMO Management is also tied for the first place spot, with good reason – they have excellent management in place for their variety of homes offered throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Offering a wide range of services and amenities in their rentals, AMO establishes itself as one of the top-rated landlords in the area through serving their tenants’ needs quickly and thoroughly. All of their units and homes are located near public transportation, and many of them are pet-friendly.
Fifth Neville (4.5)
Among the many awesome things that Fifth Neville apartments have to offer is the location; the complex is within walking distance to Carnegie Mellon, as well as a bunch of shopping and dining options. This great example of affordable, upscale living extends tons of amenities and cool features, including things like paid water, sewage, trash pickup, and covered parking, as well a community game room, extra storage, laundry facilities, a flexible pet policy, and on-site 24-hour emergency maintenance.
The Gateway (4.5)
The Gateway ties for second place with Fifth Neville and is still another example of luxury apartments in the area. Conveniently located within walking distance of the Shops at Waterfront and the hiking and biking trails of Frick Park. The Gateway offers spectacular views of the river, on-site management, and package reception. It doesn’t stop there, residents have access to a fitness center, clubhouse, heated outdoor pool, and basketball courts, as well as playgrounds should little ones be part of your living arrangements.
Bates Hill Apartments rings in at number six on this list, deservedly tying with The Gateway and Fifth Neville for the second place spot. Bates Hill offers round-the-clock emergency maintenance for tenants, controlled access as an additional safety measure, off-street parking, and on-site laundry facility. Units feature central heating and air conditioning, garbage disposals, updated appliances, tile floors, and dishwashers. To top it off, the units are within walking distance of CMU. What more could a student ask for?
Highland Plaza 4.4
As is the case with the other landlords that made this top ten list, Highland Plaza is a beautiful property that offers a ton of amenities, including a community room, an exercise room, an enclosed sundeck, off-street parking, and a super responsive 24-hour emergency maintenance team. To top that off, Highland boasts dishwashers, tile floors, and huge closets in every unit. Remember having a closet the size of a thimble in the dorms? You’re living larger than that now.
Coming in at number eight on this list is Walnut on Highland, which sports a ton of amenities as well as intuitive designs for the apartment layouts. These units are pet-friendly and offer a maid service, laundry facilities, dry cleaning, on-site management and maintenance. Other features include a business center, fitness center, and covered parking, among other things. Built in the early 1900s by famous architect Daniel Burnham, this beautiful brick structure stands as a testament to both history and the future. The restoration of the Highland Building was considered one of the best restorations and preservations of Pittsburgh’s history in 2011, so if you’re interested in living in a piece of history, this is definitely the place for you!
Shadyside Commons is another great historical, restored living space near Carnegie Mellon that offers both a taste of the past and a ton of great amenities that give an image of a bright future. These newly renovated loft-style apartments are cable ready, smoke-free, and offer updated stainless steel appliances, washers and dryers in unit, and some utilities included in your monthly rent. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s on-site maintenance, a fitness center, and a flexible pet policy. The location is super close to public transit and has been voted one of the most affordable luxury options in the area.
The last (but certainly not the least) landlord on our list is Delta Property Management, which offers properties in several neighborhoods in the CMU area. Properties around the Oakland neighborhood (which is very close to campus) offer affordable options for students that include stuff like on-site laundry facilities and included utilities. On top of that, most of them also have huge walk-in closets and tile floors in the kitchens and bathrooms – all the comforts of living with Mom and Dad, but all the freedom of living on your own. Can’t beat that!
