I’ve got too much money and free time to know what to do with … said no Indiana State student ever (except for ones who find their Indiana State off-campus housing via College Pads … hint hint). Being broke goes hand in hand with being a college student. Unfortunately for us, dating someone new can be pretty expensive. Almost every first date idea includes dinner, drinks, or some kind of pricey activity – sure, you can go Dutch on the bill (it’s 2020 after all) but that doesn’t mean that coughing up the dough is going to be any easier.
But, what if we told you that you can still go on fun dates in Terre Haute (dramatic pause) that don’t require you to take out another student loan?
No, we’re not pulling your leg – there are actually fun dates you can go on that won’t break your bank. We’ve created a list of things to do on-campus at Indiana State University that are fun AND budget conscious.
Dining Hall Date
Good For: First Dates
While this may seem like a cheap knock-off of the dinner date, a dining hall date is a lowkey way to get to know your crush without having to break the bank. Since you both have probably been to the Sycamore Dining Halls before, you’ll both be a lot more relaxed and comfortable than going to some restaurant you’ve never been before.
Depending on what time of day you go, your total bill could range between $14 to $20 dollars.
Study Date in the Library
Good For: Second Dates
While the library may seem like an unconventional place for a second date, its a smart venue to choose when you’re trying to date someone in college … you know, since you both need to study to make it through your classes? To make your study date great, all you need to do is pack some snacks and beverages in addition to your books.
Since snacks and drinks could cost you about $1 to $5 per person, you’re looking at a $2 to $10 date total.
Go to a Sycamore Basketball Game
Good For: Third Dates
Whether or not your date is a big sports fan, there’s just something so romantic about the both of you sharing popcorn and a soda, yelling at the ref for a bad call, and the getting caught up in the excitement of watching your team score a three-pointer at the buzzer!
For non-students, Sycamores tickets can be pretty pricey – but as a ISU student, you can purchase a ticket for around $7!
Attend Campus or Org Sponsored Events
Good For: Fourth Dates
Depending on the time of year, there are tons of different events happening on the ISU campus to choose from! It really just kind of depends when you’re looking at the campus event calendar. But usually there are movie nights, game nights, dances, DIY classes, and tons of different food sales – all of which are free or under $10 per person to participate in.
